Meet the Team
HEIDI ANDERSON
Heidi relocated to Christchurch, NZ, with her family from England in 1996. She is a passionate photographer and fitness advocate who teaches local group fitness classes.
Living in the Port Hills, Heidi regularly walks the crater rim tracks and loves taking groups through the picturesque scenery. She can't wait to share an adventure with you and can point out some interesting spots along the way.
DEE OWERS
With a background and qualifications in fitness training and tutoring trainers, Dee has always enjoyed exercise. Despite her occupation training inside fitness facilities, her personal preference is outdoors. When she's not in Christchurch, you'll find her in the Marlborough Sounds or Nelson region hiking, off-road running, mountain biking, sailing, diving, or ocean kayaking. She is passionate about our beautiful and unique New Zealand environment and wildlife. Dee loves to travel, experience new cultures, and meet people from all over the planet. She looks forward to creating a memorable, fun walking experience with her as your guide.
HELEN CRICK
It is said ‘home is where the heart is’ and this certainly rings true for Helen. Having grown up in a small village in England, Helen has always appreciated being surrounded by nature. It was a move to the Garden City in 2010 that set her on a new path, finding her passion for hiking. Those paths have been many and varied and often include her favourite tracks around Banks Peninsula. As much as Helen loves walking she also loves the history and the sharing of stories of this beautiful place she calls home. Helen has embraced life in New Zealand and has hiked and biked her way around the Country. Christchurch may not have been Helen’s first home but it certainly has her heart.
FLICK ROBERTSON
Flick (Felicity), a passionate local with a deep love for Canterbury's stunning landscapes, will be thrilled to be your walking guide. A mother of two and long-time Banks Peninsula resident, Flick’s intimate knowledge of the region is matched only by her enthusiasm for sharing its wonders with others.
When not leading hiking adventures, she has a more mundane day job, enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, exploring new culinary delights, and dreaming of her next travel escapade.
DEE MILLER
Dee grew up in Wellington and has lived in many cities, but has called Christchurch home for 18 years. With a background in Sport and Recreation, Dee is a mum to 4, a personal training and pilates instructor, and a relocation consultant. She has also been involved in the resettlement of refugees and continues to support her families. She has a huge passion for the outdoors, and the mountains and the hills are her happy place. Dee loves to experience new adventures and enjoys travelling, particularly meeting people from all walks of life and cultures. She is so looking forward to sharing our wonderful Port Hills, and creating a meaningful and unforgettable experience with you.
NICOLE ELLWOOD
Nicole is a third-generation Kiwi, born and raised in the South Island of New Zealand. After completing her education, she pursued a successful career in television production, working in Christchurch, Auckland, and spending several years in the United Kingdom. After returning to New Zealand, her passion for nature and adventure led her to co-found Crater Rim Walks with her father, Fraser. She enjoys keeping up with her three children in their many sports, traveling, snowboarding, hiking, and photography. Nicole is passionate about promoting Canterbury's natural beauty and sharing it with others.
SONIA MACANDREW
Originally from Otago, Sonia moved to Christchurch in 1983 and has called it home ever since. Residing in the scenic Port Hills, she walks the tracks on a daily basis and is an expert on the trails. Over 20 years ago, Sonia started a weekly Sunday walking group with her friends, which is still going strong today.
A fountain of knowledge for visitors to the area, and an incredible host, Sonia loves to share her insights with those exploring the region. When she isn't hiking, Sonia enjoys traveling, cooking, yoga, entertaining friends and family, and spending time with her nine grandchildren across Australia and New Zealand.
FRASER MACANDREW
Retiring from a successful career in the insurance industry, Fraser co-founded Crater Rim Walks with his daughter, Nicole. Living in the picturesque Port Hills, Fraser delights in sharing his backyard with visitors to New Zealand. An avid storyteller and historian, Fraser brings the history of Christchurch to life with his extensive knowledge of both its past and present.
When he's not hiking the hills, you can find him on the golf course, playing the guitar, watching sports, or enjoying time with family and friends.
VICKI GRACE
Born and raised in Central Otago, Vicki grew up enjoying the great outdoors. She has hiked many of the great walks in New Zealand and has a real passion for biking.
Her next goal is to walk the Camino Santiago plus have sights on Te Araroa, one of the world's most diverse long-distance trails, spanning the length of New Zealand. Vicki is keen to share her enthusiasm with others through guiding.
