Sumner Stunner

DESCRIPTION:

Travel with your guide to the quaint beach suburb of Sumner where the walk begins. You will climb up and around the hillside tracks of this picturesque location, to find yourself on the Crater Rim Track. Look down on Lyttelton Harbour and back over the beautiful coastline of Canterbury stretching towards Pegasus. The 360°  views from this vantage point are stunning. This is a great walk for those who like a good ascent and decent.  Finishing in Sumner, you can choose to stay and dine in this great location, or return to Christchurch City.

DISTANCE / ELEVATION

This walk covers 9km, it is a reasonably challenging climb, and the highest point is 420m / 1378 feet.

FITNESS LEVEL:

A reasonable level of fitness is required as the track winds uphill for the first 45 minutes. Your guide will ensure there are plenty of rest stops so you can catch your breath and admire the view.
